Only a month to go!!!!!

With the wedding date only a month away we're scrambling to get all the little details down. Here's some things that might help out when planning your side of things.

Transportation.

We know it's a long and arduous trip for many to get to San Diego for some of you, and we appreciate everyone who is traveling to come celebrate with us. We hope that you have your tickets already, but if you don't, flying or Amtrak are both safe bets. There is an Amtrak station in Solana beach, just miles from Leucadia. (see our Where do I stay? post for lodging ideas, we will be staying at the Quality Inn and Suites North Coast, just so you know). Just take the "101" bus North to get into Leucadia from the Solana Beach station.
If you are flying, the San Diego airport is the closest major airport to Leucadia. The Coaster commuter train runs from Downtown San Diego into downtown Encinitas as late as 10:45 p.m. on Friday nights (only until 7p.m. on other weekdays). The NCTD website has a page on how to reach the train from the Airport. The Encinitas Coaster station is located within blocks of affordable lodging.

Dressing Up

As you know, both the ceremony and reception will take place in Steve and Mardi Musick's back yard and will be a very mellow, informal affair. While there is no "dress code" per say, we encourage you to dress well, but comfortably. Festive colors will suit the occasion, and lighter clothes will definitely be more comfortable in San Diego's August heat. We're hoping for good weather, but like anywhere, things can cool down after the sun sets. Bring a light layer just in case things cool down after dark. Also, the ceremony will be taking place in the early evening and there is likely to be some direct sunlight where you will be sitting. We recommend bringing sunglasses, a sunhat, or even a parasol just in case.

Gifts

After much thought, we have decided not to register anywhere for gifts. The simple truth is that we just don't really need any more stuff! We also understand that many of you will be investing a huge amount of time and money to be here with us, and the most important thing to us is that you be here to share in the celebration of our love. If you insist on bringing a gift we encourage you to bring handmade gifts from the heart. Write us a song. Paint us a picture. Make us something with your hands. If that's not really your thing, and you still insist, there is always that big honeymoon to think about.......

Parking

La Mirada Ave. is a small street, and there is not much parking to be had directly on street. There are no sidewalks, no curbs, and no markers. Use common sense and don't park blocking anyone's driveway or in anyone's yard. The best place to park (if you don't see anything on La Mirada) is on Puebla st, the cross street just down the hill from the house. You can park anywhere along the curb that runs the entire length of Puebla st. Additional parking can be found on any of the streets that run parallel to La Mirada Ave in the neighborhood should have at least some street parking.

We're so excited to see you all together in one place!

Feel free to contact us with any questions you might have.
